The Sunbury Gallery at the Walled Garden is currently showing the work of David Morrish, a digital embroiderer, who featured on “Make it at Market” (re-running in January on BBC1). Items created for the TV programme are part of the exhibition.
Alongside the exhibition, the gallery is hosting a competition where participants stand a chance to win one of David’s art pieces, which features on this issue’s front cover. All you need to do is follow the gallery on Instagram (@thesunbury_gallery) and suggest a title for the piece. The best title wins.
This will be David’s inaugural solo exhibition, unveiling his inspiring journey in digital embroi-dery. From winning the 2019 Hand & Lock Prize to his ongoing explorations at the Royal School of Needlework, David’s artistic evolution is vividly depicted. As an Embroiderers’ Guild Scholar and Craft Council member, David has collaborated with notable figures such as Dannii Minogue, Linda Barker, and prestigious brands. You can also book tickets to hear more from David himself, as he gives a talk at the gallery:
Saturday 17th February, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Tickets £12.
David will be giving an insightful talk on digital embroidery. With extensive industry experience, including the aforementioned feature on BBC1’s ‘Make It at Market,’ David will discuss his creative process, struggles, and remarkable recovery from PTSD.
The exhibition is on now until 3rd March 2024
