How will the community celebrate the Platinum Jubilee?
With HRH Queen Elizabeth 2 marking 70 years on the throne this summer, and an extra bank holiday to celebrate, it is time to start thinking about how to mark the occasion as a village.
Maybe it is a huge village picnic on Orchard Meadow, or Rivermead Island. Or a show by local talented youngsters. Whatever it is, we need to start at the be-ginning. The first thing to do is gather your ideas together and then meet like minded people full of enthusiasm and inspiration and together make something wonderful happen!
Father Andrew at St Mary’s. Sunbury, has kindly offered the village hall to meet as collective groups and see what you can come up with. He has also of-fered to head up the initiative. So in the first instance, if you are interested in getting involved and helping put on a party this June, please get in touch with Father Andrew: vicar@stmarys-sunbury.org.
A collaborative approach between local groups, schools, current event organis-ers etc, has been mooted for some time. It would be good if this might be a springboard to a supergroup of Sunbury volunteers who will no doubt offer an even better collective organisation. Go on. Get involved and have some fun!
