Council’s Corporate Plan Gets the Go-ahead After Unanimous Vote

Spelthorne Borough Council has launched its new Corporate Plan for 2021-23 following its unanimous approval at a full Council meeting on Thursday 9 De-cember. The plan sets out its ambitions to be a Council led by its communities, un-derpinned by five overarching ‘CARES’ priorities and seven ‘PROVIDE’ values.

The priorities for the next 2 years will focus on:

C – Community; A – Affordable housing; R – Recovery; E– Environment & S– Ser-vice delivery’

The Council’s values, ethos and ways of working will inform and underpin every-thing that they do:

P – Pride in our Council, communities, and Borough; R – Responsive and flexi-ble; O – Open and accountable; V – Value for money; I– Integrity; D – Dependable & E – Empowering communities.

It is only recently that the Council has operated without an overall majority, comprising, as it does, seven different parties. Unanimity has not been a feature of recent debates within the chamber; so it is to be welcomed that the Council gives unanimous support for its ambition to be “led by its communities” – an ambi-tion very much in line with the ethos of this Association. The Corporate Plan in full has been published on the Council website.

2022 Subscriptions Now Due

Now that we’re well into the new year it’s timely for a tactful reminder that our 2022 subscriptions became due on 1st January. New or existing members may join or renew by visiting our website www.losra.org. The annual membership of £5 (about the price of a pint of beer or two cof-fees) has re-mained unal-tered for 16 years and we continue to be run by a highly pro-fessional Committee of local resi-dents who give up their time freely. There are no paid members and all monies go towards printing costs, room hire and the like; in addition to maintaining a reserve fund for legal advice when required.
