Rose Theatre Stages New Original Production

We are blessed locally with a great choice of theatres to visit. Kingston is only a stone’s throw away and we have immensely enjoyed visiting the fabulous Rose Theatre a couple of times recently. Leopards, an original production, was greeted with great enthusiasm. This new play by the award winning producer of Fleabag was a mesmerising encounter between two seeming professionals, but which unfolded into the revelation of secrets galore. It was extremely well played and staged and we were kept guessing all the way until the twist at the end.

The second original production to be staged at the Rose under artistic director Christopher Hayden is The Seven Pomegranate Seeds. It will have it’s world premier on November 4th and runs until 20th. It is bound to prove popular so get in early. Shannon Hayes and Niamh Cusack, two household names from both TV and theatre, star in this original production. The Seven Pomegranate Seeds takes seven contemporary stories grounded in prominent, mythical origins. Persephone, Hypsipyle, Medea, Alcestis, Phaedra, Creusa and Demeter, the women of Euripides’ plays, are reimagined as people of today in an unexpected fusion of celebrity, inappropriate desires, historical police investigations and missing chil-dren. A severed maternal bond threads each story together, charting a journey through rage and redemption, towards a compelling conclusion.
