Local resident Georgie Thomas lives in Sunbury. Her hobby is mak-ing mosaics for the home and garden. When we were in lockdown earlier this year she made a rainbow heart which she raffled to raise money for the NHS Combined Charities. It raised £120 and went to a lady in Hanworth.
Having always wanted to design a poppy Georgie thought that another raffle might be an idea. The petals were a mixture of speckled, glitter, mirror and iridescent glass tiles. The black centre piece was kindly donated by Mother & Daughter Glass who make beautiful fused glass designs in Devon.
She set up a page on Just Giving with a target of £100 over a two week period. By the end of the first week £230 had been donated. The draw was scheduled for 5.30pm on Fri 30 Oct and with 2 hours to go the total was £480 so I put out a plea for another £20. Another £140 flooded in!
Amy Baker-McCormack was the lucky winner and Georgie delivered it to her the next day. She said she was going to display it on her rock-ery.
