A Walk in Sunbury Park

By Ian Morris | 8am 15th May 2020

as I walk
the dry mud-trodden path
in the bright-clear of day
beneath an unclouded blue
I get glimpses of growing warmth
that patch and catch me
as I move through the shade
of glistening green-leafed trees
whose shadows echo the cold
as I step
into pools of dewy sunlight
amongst burgeoning buttercups
sprinkled clusters of daisies
waiting patiently for the sun's heat
to unfurl in their elegant way
almost bid me just to stay

Editor: Thanks to local Sunbury resident Ian Morris who has embraced the village and village life since moving here from Worcester in 2016. He wanted to share some of his inspiring poetry. We felt he truly captured the magic of a walk in the park and the play of the sunlight through the trees.
