Just before we went to print, we attended the inaugural Princess Alice Bridal show where a crowd of 200 or so watched a very special catwalk show.
All the garments on show had been donated across Surrey’s network of Princess Alice Hospice shops. The Shepperton branch receives all the donated garments, and sells them in a specially created Bridal shop above the main premises. Bridal gowns, veils, shoes, prom dresses, bridesmaids dresses and accessories galore, not to mention dresses for mother of the bride.
Shepperton Shop Manager, Linda Kemp, secured at the historic Shepperton Studios as the venue to show some of the many beautiful dresses that they have available. Linda said: “We are thrilled to be hosting this event to showcase some of the wonderful wedding attire we have available in our shop. People will be amazed at the kind donations we receive, including brand new wedding dresses and we hope to encourage more people to pop in and take a look.”
We were joined by the Mayor of Spelthorne, Vivienne Leighton, who introduced the models, including ‘Green Goddess’ Diana Moran. Nicki Shaw, Princess Alice Hospice Chief Executive, introduced the proceedings.
The evening concluded with a violin recital by Lisa Rollin, Director at Red Hot Strings, and a well known figure in Shepperton.
The quality of dresses on the catwalk was astounding! If you are looking for a dress, this should be your first port of call. Not only will you get a quality bargain, but you will also be supporting the work of the PAH in caring for the terminally ill. The shop even has a seamstress on call who can alter any dress you like.
The models for the evening were the volunteers from the Shepperton store, as well as family and friends. They looked stunning! Congratulations on a great evening must go to manager Linda Kemp and her dedicated team of helpers.
The Princess Alice Hospice Shop is at 17 High Street, Shepperton, TW17 9AJ.
