Vintner Court Shepperton is an Independent Sheltered Housing home in Shepperton. Residents have been busy fund raising for Woking & Sam Beare Children’s Hospice.
To date these elderly residents and neighbours have together raised £1,197.20, £546.85 at a late Coronation party held in September, sup-ported by Cllr Karen Howkins and Spelthorne Borough Council who gave a supporting donation of £250.00.
Obviously with the three main organisers, Yvette, Sheila and Coral being in their mid-80s, help was required. So ever helpful local neighbours have been lending a hand; Maxine & Darren, Lynn, Jackie & Joe, and oth-ers. Jackie and Maxine have been doing catering and Lynn makes wonderful cakes, whilst Darren minded the BBQ along with the other neighbours.
Everything was donated, from the raffle prizes to the food, cakes and drinks and even clothes which were sold to raise funds. This really is a community working together to help those less fortunate.
Yvette, the main organiser, who is 85, is showing no signs of slowing down. Along with the other members of the merry crew of residents and neighbours, she is busy arrang-ing another fund raiser in December. The team hope that they will be able to make another significant donation to Louise and Samantha for the Woking & Sam Beare Children’s Hospice, which they all care so much about.
It just goes to show you are never too old to get involved and make a difference!
