The community boat, ‘Impossible Dream’, offering accessibility to the water, has been delighting many by opening again for boat trips on the Thames.
In August the charity received a generous donation from Shepperton Rotary Aurora, and now proudly sports stickers with their logo. The committee (see below) celebrated with a glass of something appropriate.
The same afternoon, riverside residents Angela and Terry Shore welcomed some of the elderly members of St Nicholas Church. Anyone in this age group particularly, has spent a difficult and isolating time over the past 18 months. So Angie and Terry put on an afternoon tea in their riverside garden and arranged for groups to be taken out for a river trip on ‘Impossible Dream’ manned by the ever enthusiastic volunteer crew. It was heart warming to see how appreciated it was and the afternoon sunshine really made it special.
Guests were then treated to afternoon tea with Sangria and a mini violin concert fea-turing Katherine Shore, Angie and Terry’s granddaughter and her friend Josephine Griffin. It was most appropriate that the girls started their set with the piece entitled ‘English Country Garden’.
This was the second boat trip organised for members of the St Nicholas Church congrega-tion. It has proved very popular, and those who have not managed to join in one of the trips yet, may well be able to as there is demand for possibly an October outing.
Angie said of the afternoon “It’s wonderful to see people enjoying normal social contact after so long”.
Make the most of the final days of sunshine, whatever you do. ‘Impossible Dream’ is a great way of passing a gentle while, out on the river. Look out for the boat and wave!
