Well the past few weeks have definitely seemed more like business as usual in Surrey Police. We are seeing a rise in Anti-Social behaviour especially from youths. As most of you have probably seen there has been a Dispersal Order around Sunbury Park and Green Street which has been extended out further. This was necessary due to a number of youths creating chaos for local residents throwing rocks and stones and stealing from local shops. A letter has also gone out to all out local parents of secondary school. Essentially we are asking that as parents of school age children you should know where your children are and what they are up to in the local area. We will be calling up parents to collect children where they are found behaving in an anti-social manner. Other powers allow us to case build for Criminal Behaviour Orders and work with local housing associations and Council colleague in community Safety partnership team. Anti-Social behaviour can result in putting a families tenancy in danger.
Burglaries are now becoming prevalent again especially where bikes are being removed from garages and sheds. Please ensure that you lock up you outbuildings and consider putting an extra lock around your bikes as well . It is a good idea to ensure that you bikes are registered through Bike register and this is a free service where you can even upload a picture https://www.bikeregister.com.
In this modern day we are glad that we are catching with technology and very soon will be able to send out a link to victims of crime to upload their videos and CCTV to support crime investigations. This will prevent the loss of CCTV and make it much easier for investigators to see evidence quickly and share with the Crown Prosecution service and courts.
Please be aware if you are using large public car parks as we have seen a rise in Catalytic Converter Thefts in Supermarket Car Parks. Be vigilant and call police if you see cars being jacked up unusually in the car parks. The theft takes seconds and uses only basic tools.
Thank you again for all you support over the recent weeks.
