Village Matters

Wonderama Picture Palace returns to the Riverside Arts Centre!

Bringing nostalgic movie magic back to the Riverside for the first time in over one hundred years.

Did you know that the walls of the Riverside’s great hall were once home to The Magnet Picture Palace and Sunbury Picture Theatre where silent films dazzled captivated locals. In fact, the very first adaptation of Alice in Wonderland was filmed in Walton by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow starring May Clarke, a local Sunbury girl.

Join us for magical candlelit screenings of vintage classics, guilty pleasures and cult films. Previously we have shown The Big Lebowski, West Side Story, Singin’ In The Rain and True Romance among others.

Meet and make friends at our Breakfast Club screenings over refreshments from the tearoom before enjoying vintage classic gems in our relaxed supper club setting.

Whereas our evening screenings will see the return of the good old intermission! Each evening film will have a thoughtfully placed interval where you can stretch your legs at the Riverside’s bar. Let’s all go to the lobby!

We are over the moon to be back at the Riverside, supporting Sunbury’s cultural hub. Thank you to all that supported us before and we hope that the cinema becomes a great addition to our community.

Any Wonderama Wishes please don’t be shy, we really want to know what you would love to see on the big screen again. Any era, any genre. contactwonderama@gmail.com
