CARE in Shepperton

New Service and Christmas Hours

We are pleased to say we are getting a good number of requests for our services, following our restart in July, although some days our drivers have little, or nothing to do. One area where we are not getting requests is to take clients to the Health Centres for GP appointments. We sus-pect this is because the telephone triage system means people are being asked to attend on the same day, a service we have never offered.

We are proposing an experiment from December. If a registered client calls the office before 11.30, with a request to be taken to Shepperton Health Centre, or Upper Halliford Medical Cen-tre, provided the duty driver is available we will accept the job. We must emphasise this is not guaranteed; it is dependent on the driver being available and you must be pre-registered with us. We are also prepared to accept next day requests but, again, with the same limitations. It is difficult for us to find a driver at short notice but, if a duty driver is available, we will attempt to assist you.

We hope this service will be useful to Shepperton residents. Please be understanding if you are told we are not able to assist you on a specific occasion.

Our drivers will be available Christmas Eve, although not for same day appointments, and De-cember 29th to 31st. However, we will be operating reduced office hours. The office will be closed on Christmas Eve, December 27th and 28th, and January 3rd. It will only be open from 10.00 to 12.00 from December 29th to 31st. Normal service should be resumed on January 4th.
