Update from Sunbury Health Centre Group Practice

We have kept our doors open during the Coronavirus pandemic but continue to ask patients to stay home and contact us using our website, where possible (available on a computer, a tablet or smartphone) Please only telephone us if you do not have internet access.

All patients’ requests are reviewed and when appropriate are answered via the website or by text. If a consultation is necessary our clinicians will determine if a telephone call will resolve the request or if a face to face appointment is required. This is in line with NHS guidelines to ensure that we continue to provide a good service to our patients whilst playing our part in controlling the spread of coronavirus.

The practice has been reconfigured behind the scenes to maintain social distancing. Thankfully we have been able to expand into some additional rooms, introduce a one-way flow system and utilise an empty portacabin to accommodate flu clinics without long queues or waiting times. The uptake for our flu clinics has increased this year with more than 5,000 patients vaccinated.

We’d like to thanks all of our patients for bearing with us while we have adjusted to this new way of working.

Our focus is now moving to the Coronavirus Vaccine. Within Surrey the delivery of the vaccine at the current time is via local vac-cination hubs in Staines & Walton, with Chertsey and Woking as alternatives. These sites are operated by our local GP Federation, NICS. Our practice team are volunteering to work at these sites on their days off so when you visit one of them you may see a familiar face!

There is a mass vaccination site at Epsom Racecourse operated separately and you may be invited there depending on vaccine availability. We are having to constantly adjust to changing guidance and we are regularly updating on the vaccine programme via the practice website and our Facebook page.

The NHS are making the vaccine available in stages by vaccination groups as set out by the government, below:

• Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers

• All those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers

• All those 75 years of age and over

• All those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals

• All those 65 years of age and over

• All individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality

• All those 60 years of age and over

• All those 55 years of age and over

• All those 50 years of age and over

When your vaccination group is due to be vaccinated you will be contacted by text, phone or letter, we request that you don’t contact the practice.

PLEASE REMEMBER: The NHS will NOT ask for your bank details or any payment to book or receive the Covid Vaccination which is free.

We cannot book you an appointment unless the vaccine is available – this is why we ask for your patience and to wait for us to contact you. This allows us to complete this work as efficiently as possible.

Many thanks to all of our patients from the practice team during this challenging time.
