JUMP out of Lockdown and STEP into Christmas!

By Carl Phillips, Shepperton Residents Association

Hopefully, by now, we have been freed from the confines of the second Lockdown. It’s time to get those delayed Christmas plans up and running. An exciting prospect, perhaps a bit more frenetic this time. Don’t forget your masks! We have been busily organising the Christ-mas trees for the High Street. They should be lighting up around 1st December. SO.. Have your ordered your Turkeys yet? Daines and Gray and James, our Butcher Boys, are ready and more than willing to fulfil your meaty wishes. And visit our Girls (and occasional boys!) at Quality Fruit for your Veggie and Fruity desires!! I’m sure that Maz and family at our bakery, JAMZ, can also tempt you with festive pastries and more. A nice touch at this time of year is brighten-ing up the room with the colour and fresh-ness of a nice bunch of flowers. Wendy and Jo at Daisy Chain are your experts in that direction. Why not pop down and see them on Station Parade. The Quality Fruit girls and Daisy Chain can help you with Christ-mas wreaths and trees, as can Rob down at Quality Plants, opposite Jack’s Fish & Chips, in addition to our Garden Centres, of course. You can light them up with some festive lighting. Min and Tash at Shepperton Homecare may have what you want, along with some Christmas partyware for the table! Pop into Felicitations or Yags at High Street News, or the Post Office, for your Christmas cards. And don’t forget your Christmas stamps -Tom and Sharon will help you there. Dressing for a party, or just sprucing up at home, Donna at BLUE may have just have the very thing to brighten and glitter up your mood. Check her out. Having got the threads sorted it’s time to deal with the hair and the nails and in Shep-perton you are most definitely spoiled for choice! You can even get a winter tan with Ellie at the tanning salon. If you intend to show off that tan, you can even tone up at Aspire Fitness Centre which Aaron is setting it up, just next to King Clippers and along from McAteers, opposite Station Approach. If anything goes wrong with your exertions during the festive period, pop along to Mar-tin at Symmetry – he’ll physio you out! Shepperton’s hospitality businesses; Pubs, Restaurants, Coffee Bars and Takeaways, will be so glad to see you again after their lockdowns so try to support them as best you can. Enjoy yourselves! Have a Christmas drink, enjoy some Christmas cheer at our fabulous pubs. We have such a great choice. You know your local! Why not save yourself some cooking time on the lead up to Christmas with some Thai, or Indian, or Chinese…even Pizza. Whether eating in or taking out it can help you ease the strain. It certainly helps our restaurants to get back into the earnings groove! After we have run ourselves ragged getting prepared, as we get towards the 24th Decem-ber, Christmas Eve take some time, calm down and think about the true meaning of Christmas. Specially this year, 2020, it has been devastating for many and frustrating for all. Let us relax and enjoy each other’s company once again. Light the lights and get into the spirit!

Merry Christmas everyone!
